Research Interests

The work in Dr. Karim’s group is focused on the design of more efficient (active and selective) catalysts for the synthesis of fuels and chemicals from shale gas and biomass feedstocks. We focus on understanding the fundamental molecular interaction that govern the catalyst activity and selectivity through: synthesis of well-defined catalyst structures, following the dynamics of catalyst structures and their interaction with adsorbates using advanced in situ/operando characterization and detailed kinetic measurements.
